Article 3.2.2.13 permits heavy timber roof construction in buildings upto 2 storeys and any area if the building is sprinklered and the sprinkler system is connected to the fire department. This article is applicable to buildings required to be of non-combustible construction.
Therefore, even though subsection 3.1.5 does not specifically permit heavy timber roof construction in buildings required to be of non-combustible construction, article 3.2.2.13 takes precedence and permits it under certain conditions.
